Traffic video on the Internet

Trafficland Inc., a traffic video systems company in the USA chose Sirrus as its Video Technology Partner for its traffic video web-portal systems, feeding live traffic on to the internet to let motorists see what faces them on the journey to and from work.

Trafficland is currently installing systems in the eastern seaboard of the USA. Its web portal, www.trafficland.com, offer drivers instant access to the cameras overlooking their favourite routes.

Larry Nelson, President of Trafficland Inc, said "Sirrus have provided us with a very high standard of technical equipment and expertise and have been a great source of support. They have shipped on time and brought pictures on-line exactly when promised. By partnering with Sirrus in the creation of Trafficland, we have been able to outperform other driver-information websites in the USA and look forward to bringing many more cites online with Sirrus as our partner."

Bakery Process Monitoring

In this bakery, observation and monitoring of production processes is made simple by networked Sirrus Remote Vision cameras.

Managers can see what's happening at any stage of production, anywhere in the plant, right from the comfort of their desks. Problems and delays can be flagged earlier and so downtime and cost reduced.

Remote Vision cameras are connected using an ordinary Ethernet network - which can even be totally wireless. This allows cameras to be conveniently positioned - and moved if needed - to allow close observation of key machinery and equipment.

It's also possible to make digital archive recordings of the video - and the archive recording can be reviewed from literally anywhere - via the network, or even externally via the Internet - in the event of a problem.

Images are recorded on a networked disc drive (a file server) and can be hard-copied, printed, transferred to CD, or even e-mailed as required.

Aluminium Smelting Plant

This client has a plant comprising many very large buildings spread over a site of many tens of acres. The strip mills where aluminium sheet is produced are so long that the earth's curvature had to be taken into account in their design.

Process managers are responsible for keeping production flowing in the face of equipment problems and downtime, and the workplace is inherently very hazardous. A Sirrus remote vision system, implemented to replace their elderly video-tape-based system, now allows those managers to view cameras from all parts of the site, from any workstation or PC, through the company's intranet. Sirrus supplied a fully 'turnkey' system, using a 325Gbyte network attached disc plus three of our IPVR-100s to record 28 days' archive from all of the cameras. The archive can also be replayed through the intranet - or even remotely.
