This project was a unique challenge, in that it had to be completed in less than a month from purchase order to handover - owing to the pressure of an IMF summit meeting which was shortly due to be held in Dubai for the first time. Sirrus' team in fact handed the system over to operators in just 22 days after order.
The system comprises sixteen Sirrus IP200-MP4 Integrated Dome Cameras using MPEG4 compression. Recording of the cameras is at 25fps real-time fully 24 hours per day, using a single Sirrus IPVR-200M network recorder with 800 GBytes of RAID disc storage on board.

Dubai's CCTV Control Room
The control room display was created from a total of nine screens, all using latest XVGA technology. Each operator has a 17" LCD local to him, and then a total of seven 50-inch Plasma screens form an arc surrounding both operators. The individual operator control screens are mirrored on the two end plasma screens for the benefit of viewers behind, and the central five plasma screens then provide a range of sequence and multipicture views, all rendered as live 25fps windows using software decompression.
Overall seven high performance PC clients drive the plasma screens and all are on a locally switched network running at 100Mits/second.
