Showing our Returning Ospreys to the World

Sirrus network CCTV codecs have played a part in showing the world Britain's beautiful Ospreys as they return to the RSPB's Abernathy reserve this year.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has installed a set of discreet network cameras out in the Abernathy forest where the rare birds are being encouraged to nest.

Sirrus supplied a safe low-voltage camera subsystem in a compact unobtrusive housing, plus a quantity of IP network codecs to bring a number of the Society's existing cameras on to the web.

The Society has done a wonderful job presenting the images to the public and during 2004 had even allowed website visitors to participate in the observation by "snapshotting" fine images they chanced to see while watching live. Some examples are shown below.

  About Sirrus

Sirrus is the UK's leading manufacturer of software and hardware products designed to help you build CCTV systems on existing IP Networks - and have the freedom to mix-and-match different camera makes in one system.

We were Britain's first manufacturer of hardware Network Video Recorders (NVRs) for network cameras and we've been helping resellers and end users build real CCTV systems since 1998.

Systems we designed for government departments are in daily use in both Washington DC and London, and our NVRs are in use across the UK as well as the USA, Mexico, Spain, the Middle East and Australia. If you like the idea of network cameras but are wondering how best to build a system, call to chat over your application - we're here to help.
